The Founders

Caroline Strachan

Caroline has spent her 30yr career working across travel related industries and in the past 15yrs in leadership roles across major global organisations. She has also held voluntary leadership roles as chairman of the industry trade association and has won some wonderfully shiny silverware over the years too! Most recently recognized as the IBM everywoman Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 and as Travel Media Top 25 most influential people 2018. A proud mum to twin daughters, adjusting to working life as a parent didn’t come easily. Hence the drive to create a Women At Work, a safe space to ask for advice. Gender diversity in the workplace has become her passion project and in addition to help grow Women At Work’s reach, she recently recorded a TEDx talk on the topic “Why gender equality is not just about women”

Hannah Brown

Hannah Brown is Head of Marketing for a medical publisher. She has a degree in European Studies and Modern Languages which she never uses, but led her to work as a parliamentary assistant to an MEP in the European Parliament in Brussels. She has worked in medical education since 2005 in various roles from event organisation to business development, and was runner-up in the EphMRA ‘best conference paper’ award in 2017. In 2016 she spearheaded a nationally-covered campaign for safer working practices for healthcare workers after night shifts, and in 2018 she won a BHBIA BOBI award for ‘best patient impact’. She attended Harvard Business School’s Key Executive Program and completed her MBA in 2012. Hannah has (very) non-identical twins that were born in 2013 and she co-founded Women at Work in 2017 after two years of working away from home and feeling like the worst (working) mother in the world (because no one else could possibly be doing anything so villainous!). She now works from home in South Manchester and against all odds does the school run every morning. She takes dance classes at the dance school she started at when she was 6, and in 2019 co-founded Bee Sober MCR, organising social events for non-drinkers in Manchester. She has been sober since April 2018, after she realised that maybe there were ways other than wine and gin to cope with work-related stress and acute anxiety.
